With the CM11 you have the basis for automating your entire house. With your computer you can program whatever you want. Switching on your lights at set or varying times (standard presence simulation), creating a home movie theatre, switching your outside lighting or having a fresh pot of coffee ready when you are woken up by the atmospheric lighting in your bedroom. In combination with the CM11 you only need receivers in order to control your lighting and equipment. Once everything is set according to your wishes, you can enter this into the memory of the CM11 and turn off your computer. You can also pre-set the CM11 for use in another house.

Yes. You do need to synchronise the clock with the PC clock again by starting the ActiveHome program while the CM11 is connected to the PC.
No. The interface has its own memory and processor. After programming the actions and times, the PC can be switched off. The interface will do the rest and works as a stand-alone device.
No. The interface also works when it is not connected to the PC. You can even plug the interface into a wall socket somewhere else. Make sure the backup battery is inserted, otherwise the interface loses its time settings.
If your interface fills up quickly, this is usually the result of the resolution for the calculations for the times for sunrise and sunset. By setting the resolution to e.g. 25, you create more space in the interface. If you still don’t have sufficient memory space, you can use a second interface.
This may be caused by a self repeating macro and can be controlled as follows. Erase the memory of the CM11. When the problems have disappeared, load the macros in the interface again. Does the problem come back then one of the macros is the problem (repeats itself).
No, the interface does not need to be connected to an earthed socket.
Perhaps some coding in the autoexec.nt file is causing problems.
Install SP2 (Service Pack 2) if you are using Windows XP.
The CM11-USB is compatible with both USB 1.1 and USB 2.0
This can be found on the CD-ROM supplied. Also see the README file.
You can also download drivers on the CD-ROM for the USB cable from this web site .
Yes, ActiveHome does work under a ‘clean’ Vista installation. This however demands an altered installation procedure.
Please follow the instructions in ActiveHome_WindowsVista_en.pdf at manuals..
Check whether daylight saving time is in place. Also keep in mind the American notation of the date (mm/dd/yyyy). Also important is the geographic location and timezone.
You need to place all files in the root.
Answer: If you use a different serial port (COM) than the one you indicated when installing the software, you need to remove the software and install it again, setting the right port. You can not change the port in the software.
There is a conflict with the mouse driver on your PC. Remove the ActiveHome software by using the De-install option (Start > Home Control > De-install ActiveHome). Reinstall the software again. Choose a different COM port than you indicated when first installing the program (the standard is COM2, now choose .e.g. COM1).
Another cause for this problem can be the installed software for a USB-device, for instance a PDA. The software for these kind of devices can accidentely hold the needed COM-port. Normally this can be switched off in the software of the USB-device.
Yes, you can use more than one Transceiver in your home when the range of your remotes is not sufficient. The Transceiver is using so called collision detection to prevent signals to be disturbed when more than one Transceiver is transmitting. Transceivers will wait for a quite power line before transmitting their data. To prevent your Marmitek X-10 System to become slow or to prevent dimming from becoming less smooth, make sure that the units are placed as far away from each other as possible.

The input/output port of the CM11 is based on RS232 communication. The XM10 contains a logics port for TTL or CMOS connections. This means the timing and protocol settings for the XM10 are completely determined by your own electronics or control unit. The XM10 is meant for connections controlled by Marmitek X-10. There are several products available, such as surveillance systems (e.g. Caddx, Ademco, Lobeco, Aritech and Visonic) and thermostats (e.g. RCS, Enerzone), that have an RJ11 connection and that can be directly attached to the Marmitek XM10 module. Please carefully check that all appliances that are to be connected, are suitable for use with the 50Hz frequency.
Yes, you can. Marmitek offers you some tools, but does not support the resulting program. We can place any programs you wish to share with other Marmitek X-10 users on our website. Of course you can also use the ideas of other users.
Tools: After installing ActiveHome, you will find a file on your hard disk, called ‘X10comm.hlp’. This help file describes how you can use our Windows driver in your own programming environment.
The information ‘RS232 info CM11’ describes how the PC communicates with the CM11G interface. For users who want to write their own drivers or want to communicate directly with the interface.
Internet: The information on the CM11A can also be used for your CM11G or CM11F.

More information on Macintosh OS and Linux can be found on the different X-10 user groups
The installation of Windows Service pack 2 appears to cause problems with all types of software. The following trick usually works:
Run ActiveHome under Windows 2000. This is how to do it:
DURING the installation, you may have to choose another COM port than the (default) COM2 port.

Please follow the instructions in ActiveHome_WindowsVista_en.pdf at manuals..
You need to select the option Download to interface. Choose ‘Standalone macros’ instead of ‘Standard macros’. Right click on the Macro holder to change the Standard macro to Standalone macro.
Once you download the ActiveHome zip file you must first unzip this file into a directory which will then contain 3 files.
You should then start up the .exe file. The install should now complete successfully. If you start up the .exe file from the zip file the other files are not extracted, which causes the system to ask for a CD-ROM/diskette to be inserted.
You can set the compatibility of Active Home if used with Windows XP. Go to START, Programs, HomeControl. Rightclick on ‘Active Home’. In the menu you see now, you can set the compatibility to Windows 2000. This should solve the problem.

The interface has a ‘non-transitory EEPROM memory’. The settings you programmed, will not be lost. You can erase all settings using the ActiveHome program. The clock in the interface is however transitory information. This is the reason why the CM11 has two batteries. These ensure that in the case of power failure the right time and date are retained.
Yes. You do need to synchronise the clock with the PC clock again by starting the ActiveHome program while the CM11 is connected to the PC.
This is a normal socket for e.g. your desk lamp.

This is normal. Only lamp modules will respond to the command ‘All Lights On’. This is to prevent that e.g. the coffee machine is activated in case of an alarm. The command ‘All Units Off’ is recognised by all device modules.
